Sometimes You Feel Like A Nut

The gang officially has a new toy. Pistachios! I got some around the holidays and, yes, dropped one on the floor accidentally. POUNCE! The little buggers roll when batted, they make lots of noise on the floor, they're salty, so I think they taste good, and they can be carried around in the mouth as a prize.

Sessions usually start solitary but soon other players join in, just waiting for the kitteh controlling the pistachio to bat it in their direction. Keep away usually ensues. I've found pistachios in the bed, in my chair, in the cat tree and even in bathtub. Here's a quick series of Percy enjoying the chase.

  5. Oh so cute that Percy with the pistachio shell! Banjo had a go with a dropped uncooked pasta the other day. Makes me wonder why I bothered to buy him a new expensive cat toy for Christmas. I should have just bought him a box of Kraft Dinner! :)

  7. I had to crack up at Catherine's comment :) Expensive cat toys seem to be such a waste when something as simple as a pistachio shell or a crumpled piece of paper can provide hours of entertainment :)

  9. OMG - I was just going to remark that the kittehs probably have more cat toys than they'll ever play with, and what do they want? Pistachios :-)

I just had the same thing happen today. J and I got some super-duper storage cabinets at Tarjjjay, and - of course - the cats were utterly fascinated with every part of the process. Caroline finished up the morning by batting around one of the spare bits of hardware, chasing it into corners and nooks and cubbies...all the while ignoring the fancy toys she got for Christmas *sigh*

And your New Year's Eve sounds heavenly!! Here's to more kitteh snuggles!

  10. Olives. One of mine has a passion for olives and steals them to bat around. I can't tell you how many strokes I've almost had pulling out a chair to vaccuum and having a shriveled, head-like thing roll out at me.

Best New Year Wishes to everyone.

  11. Thank you so much for your kind purrayers and thoughts to comfort us on the loss of our darling Angel. Time is never long enough and especially hard when it's time for a beloved friend to leave. It means the world to us that you cared about us at such a sad time.

We send you every best wish for a great 2010 with wonderful forever homes for all the Space Paws kitties.

Hazelnuts and walnuts were the Christmas toys of choice here this year!
