Farewell Handsome Hubbard

Our thoughts and prayers have been with Sundown and KittyChair this weekend as they adjust to life without their companion of so many years. Last week it became clear that Hubbard needed their help one last time and, on Thursday, they were with their Big Acoustic Kitty as he left for the Bridge.

It was an honor to have known you via the intertubes, Hubbard, and I look forward to meeting you when I catch up with Tish, Grey and Winnie at the Bridge. It will be but a blink in time before your humans join you there!

Quick update on Hubbard

Sundown just posted this morning so, keep those healing purrs coming for Hubbard. Looks like we're not quite out of the woods yet:

Well, remission may not have been the right word. When we took Hubbard in to the vet yesterday, his glucose was high again (320). They did a few more tests on him that had to go off to the lab, so we won't know the results until early next week. However, we're back to no one being sure what happened and looking like we'll be back to giving him insulin very soon.

Hubbard is still doing ok, although with his blood sugar high he is drinking and using his box like crazy! We'll be keeping a close eye on his condition today.

We know Hubbard is in the best of hands with Sundown and KittyChair! And they've appreciated your support very much!

Coming up we have LOLs of Victor and Frankie's baby pics, courtesy of Wendy and I'll post picks from yesterday's visit with Kayla and Zimmer (Aggie and Percy), so stay tuned! :-)

Let's muster a boatload of positive energy for Hubbard!

Sundown and Kittychair's old grumpkins, Hubbard, needs our healing purrs, guys! The most awesome thing to me about our little intertube community is the way we pull for each other at times like this.

Just an hour or so ago, Sundown wrote:

I had hopes this day was farther off than it apparently may be. Our furry family is once again in need of some positive energy.

Our 15-year old grumpy mancat Hubbard, who as you know is diabetic, is in the emergency vet tonight. His blood glucose, which has been running high (low 300s) for the past six months, was all the way down to 26. Anything below 70 is dangerous. My wife came home this afternoon and found him hiding in my office, cold but still conscious, and rushed him in. His prognosis is not very good.

Those of you who have been with us a while remember that Sundown and Kittychair lost their precious Ziggy to FeLV/FIV last year and then went through the agony of waiting for results on periodic tests on the rest of their furkids (negative, thank heaven!). Please keep Hubbard and their family in your thoughts and purrayers.

Sundown concluded:

I have a post up on my blog with some more details. We'll keep you all posted on his condition, and update when we get any more news.

Please find someone you love, be they four-legged and furry or two-legged, hug them and tell them how much you love them. And, we'd appreciate any good thoughts you can spare sent along to our Hubbard.

Hubbard, I know the positive energy is pouring your way, honey! Hugs to you, your mom and dad and furblings from all of us at Space Paws.
