We're still stable here with our 7. Everyone is well and, honestly, we haven't done much interesting in a while. Or so I thought-this may have me looking out our guys activities in a new light. This week I discovered a cat dad who has made 96 (yep, 96) short, adorable clips of his two cats.<br />
<br />
I saw the "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5rXLZfsJT0&list=UUsCFq6T-ut6mRvC5MlZmjkw&index=0&feature=plcp">How to walk your human</a>" video and discovered their channel. Just hysterical! Here's a short series (about 6-7 min total) to get you started:<br />

<br />
Doesn't it just warm the cockles of your heart? I plan to work my way back through their Dad's archive!<br />
<br />
And, don't forget the<a href="http://www.theittybittykittycommittee.com/"> IBKC fundraiser</a>! Day 3 and over $11 squillion!!!! But we can't get cocky! If they are going to meet their goal to help kittehs whose beans have fallen on hard times, we'll have to keep the steam going! Operators are standing by!<br />

*Sigh* If I'm not the world's worst critter adoption blogger, I'm close. Sorry, folks, life just keeps getting too busy. Lots going on here at the Casa. Not a lot of time tonight, either, but I wanted to get something up and tell you all that I've missed you!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is one of the bright spots in the last month. Our little feral, Mama Lucy, has made a friend. Not that I'm surprised. Sophie may be my dim sweetie, but her loving nature is just balm for the critters who pass through our doors.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Lucy now lets me pick her up and hold her. In my arms. Yep, in my arms. Who would have thought it a year ago? Whoever said, "Your patience will be rewarded," was certainly right!</div>

We hold the service outside in the courtyard or in our social hall, if it looks like rain (for easy clean up - just in case). And guess who went? Trudy and Lawrence!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
From their perch on the stage, they got a bird's eye view of communion distribution and, of course, all the other pets at the service. That's their new mom, Sarah, serving as communion assistant, behind Pastor Margaret. (It cracks me up - no one ever sits in the first row in church, whether service is in the sanctuary or in the social hall!! Even me - I was in the second row.)<br />

In the past, Grey, Bitty, Annie and Peggy Sue have come to the Blessing of the Pets. I knew Trudy and Lawrence would be there, so I figured the Casa was well represented! :-D The blessing is a lovely way to celebrate Earth Day, I think!</div>

Crud! Extension filed. And I am getting a refund, too. :-( And then the monitor died. At least it died after I got 'em done. My old eyes would have shriveled in their sockets if I'd had to do the dang 1040 using only the laptop monitor!!<br />
<br />
So then it was monitor shopping, yesterday was visiting with Sarah, Trudy and Lawrie and, finally, today I installed the new monitor. Only enough time tonight for a quickie and I'll get back to visiting tomorrow!<br />
<br />
Bilo (formerly Bitty's baby, Victor) has his inbred cat moment, no doubt courtesy of niece, Shelly!<br />

<span style="text-align: left;">An update on Buddy and his mysterious litterbox sitting: Kelly asked where the box was situated. Brilliant question! I had moved the litterbox from its normal place under the sink (after bonking my head during scooping) to </span><span style="text-align: left;">right in front of a heat vent. Sure enough, once I moved it away from the vent, he stopped camping out in it! Thanks, Kelly!</span></div>

You may remember when he came to the Casa, he had multiple wounds - so many that I couldn't pick him up without contacting an open sore (<a href="http://hubblespacepaws.blogspot.com/2011/05/its-official-casa-has-bona-fied-crazy.html">you can see here</a> and <a href="http://hubblespacepaws.blogspot.com/2011/05/buddys-in-better-shape-kitten-choose.html">here</a> but be warned, it's not for the squeemish and these pics don't even show all of his wounds - his tummy was full of them).<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Poor boy also had an hellacious ear mite infection and anemia. Doc immediately identified that most of the wounds were likely self inflicted and began treating him for allergies. Prednisone helped initially, but when we tried to wean him off, we found he still needed a hefty dose to maintain progress. Even then he worried two spots with fair frequency. And poor Buddy was grumpy - really grumpy. I guess I would be, too, if I itched all the time and we knew the prednisone wasn't helping with the grumpiness. We tried other things but the only med that seemed to work was the pred... Buddy was at the point where he shouldn't keep taking it and Doc was running out of ideas for alternate treatments.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Fortunately, a new med recently hit the market and Doc stood in line for it (OK, not literally!). Within the first week on Atopica, our Budball was visibly more relaxed and the remaining wounds. Now, at a month, he's totally healed.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So here's what Buddy looks like today (with my lovely niece, Shelly!):</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcOIu7PjmX3NK2_rNoKaWkGucrgYdjXy_LMKYyFfKdBHCDf_opgW2r2wNMHi9qH1b8D4MT8HQ7XAzxxHMi-YPgfJGEpFvCVx5i8mj-Cz2QYx2h75uUmm_bvtTF_MNDOPvZ29FSvIFW9jA/s1600/IMG_2583.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcOIu7PjmX3NK2_rNoKaWkGucrgYdjXy_LMKYyFfKdBHCDf_opgW2r2wNMHi9qH1b8D4MT8HQ7XAzxxHMi-YPgfJGEpFvCVx5i8mj-Cz2QYx2h75uUmm_bvtTF_MNDOPvZ29FSvIFW9jA/s400/IMG_2583.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm0S17P3LuTbK-8DwVHKxTaB3ppz9t8HVhDQEHP3GOngapkz9MuoYsiuQxSEqYVB0rQ2AkV3dVLQtb7zi2mgqZPAwo90bCxgykUzsFjbh84NK6auxrKUliY6MjWkGRSLkuUU1uteRfXhg/s1600/IMG_2563.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="285" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm0S17P3LuTbK-8DwVHKxTaB3ppz9t8HVhDQEHP3GOngapkz9MuoYsiuQxSEqYVB0rQ2AkV3dVLQtb7zi2mgqZPAwo90bCxgykUzsFjbh84NK6auxrKUliY6MjWkGRSLkuUU1uteRfXhg/s400/IMG_2563.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>
One drawback is that he hates the taste of the Atopica. I mean hates. With the heat of a thousand suns, he hates it. It's a real challenge to dose him but so worth it. (We will start weaning him off after his upcoming vet visit. Yay!) The other is that taking the Atopica can increase his risk of infection because he's FIV+. Doc and I agreed that because Buddy was so miserable, and needed to come off of the prednisone, the slight risk was worth it for his quality of life.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It's so nice to have our boy decidedly less grumpy (happy, even!), healthy and itch free. Doc Andrew and Atopica, I thank you and, let me tell you, the residents of the Casa thank you even more!!</div>HubbleSpacePawshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00720087964026883620noreply@blogger.com20tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3050374070927431954.post-52906151289892915082012-04-10T07:46:00.000-04:002012-04-10T07:47:41.728-04:00Back to the Box in the BoxThe box within the box contained a new Fusion Lounger. OMG! What a hit! Here's a short clip of Bitty claiming it.<br />
<iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="225" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/57hJINFdFRU" width="400"></iframe><br />
Not to worry, everyone including the two legs (who has already pressed it into service as a footstool) had had a chance to enjoy. We have yet to put the catnip, which was enclosed, on the lounge. It's getting plenty of exercise without it!<br />
<br />
Minor drawback - daily vacuuming! (OK, I'll 'fess up - I don't really vacuum every day, but I could!)HubbleSpacePawshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00720087964026883620noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3050374070927431954.post-86972572993458602272012-04-09T08:41:00.000-04:002012-04-09T08:43:09.725-04:00Hope you all had a great weekend!Hope your weekend was lovely. We made sure we got plenty of R&R - shaking the bleeehs from Friday and celebrating Easter.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here's Bitty, helping me make the visiting rounds (not a lot of commenting though).. are those boys of Sue's a fine way to celebrate Easter or what?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKBFKVYvQjqoUVByncsdSHvYKyAobfrNMgAqxAWlAKb_PKlRJbah3uYzmBOesvH3-TvosI_RYfFE332OB6YsZ8_E8e4Ao9TYSlehNS75UAqTETgLxSWxo2qBiG0Z4Yws3XeOMUAVfkvMg/s1600/IMG_2542%5B1%5D.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKBFKVYvQjqoUVByncsdSHvYKyAobfrNMgAqxAWlAKb_PKlRJbah3uYzmBOesvH3-TvosI_RYfFE332OB6YsZ8_E8e4Ao9TYSlehNS75UAqTETgLxSWxo2qBiG0Z4Yws3XeOMUAVfkvMg/s400/IMG_2542%5B1%5D.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And a short video of Jer-Bear showing those eyes wide open, until the light from the camera got to him. I expect he'll be standoffish for months yet so you'll probably be seeing him under the bed (or steps or behind the bookcase) for some time to come. Too bad, he's starting to look quite regal when he relaxes and that doesn't really show when he's crouching!! Sophie and I get to see it when we go down for leisurely visits, though!</div>

Hi folks! Just a couple of quick shots instead of a full post - not feeling too well this morning. The residents were thrilled that they finally got to see what was in the second box. You can't see it in these shots, but everyone gathered round for the great unveiling. Tomorrow - interaction!!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Have I mentioned that Buddy loves boxes?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Margaret, the Crazy Cat Lady of Ednor Gardens who saw to Jerry's surgery, brought us a case of food. Oh my gosh... everyone at the Casa just adored it - and we had 9 at the time. I don't have to tell you what a blessing it is to find something everybody likes. OK, not likes - loves. Never a scrap left in the bowls!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, in spite of Weruva being expensive, we ordered some more, in other flavors, too. It arrived in two days and was an instant hit. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmH8lhrtg0-X3VEZdO3b7icepXedkqJKcus00lyvx0augEKJiM7E-bxtyptE0n7Db7gn0hN5zHc7164Cf5RlcgrS7VywobItdoH2XNch33UAuZ2b4YrJF-JAAaPCUmFF4xnTML6fR9k7E/s1600/IMG_2381.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgmH8lhrtg0-X3VEZdO3b7icepXedkqJKcus00lyvx0augEKJiM7E-bxtyptE0n7Db7gn0hN5zHc7164Cf5RlcgrS7VywobItdoH2XNch33UAuZ2b4YrJF-JAAaPCUmFF4xnTML6fR9k7E/s400/IMG_2381.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
The first case had been in a Mr. Chewy box. We'd never used them but ordered from there since they carried it. Well, on the second order, something went awry. Only 2 of the 3 boxes of supplies arrived (I ordered litter, too - getting lazy in my old age). So, around 11 on a Sunday night, I called, figuring I'd get a recording that would give me their hours (why I didn't look at the contact page on the website, I don't know! LOL!). I got a live person!<br />
<br />
I explained what happened and their nice service rep said she'd send out a replacement the next day. When I said she could charge it to the same credit card, she said, no, they'd take care of it. You could have knocked me over with a feather!! FedEx had clearly delivered it, so I can only assume it was swiped off my porch - hardly their fault!<br />
<br />
The residents of the Casa thank you Mr. Chewy! That was service above and beyond!<br />
<br />
PS - A comment reminded me that I forgot to mention shipping and prices: Here in the States the shipping is free if your order is over $50 and it takes 2 business days. The prices are roughly comparable to the store for most things (litter was a little higher) but not having to schlep the quantities I need home, priceless!HubbleSpacePawshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00720087964026883620noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3050374070927431954.post-92147508813064454872012-04-04T06:23:00.001-04:002012-04-04T09:49:16.464-04:00Wordless Wednesday<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Madam, will you please cease your squirming and go back to the rhythmic typing, please? I am trying to nap here. NO! Stop it, I tell you! You do not need to guzzle soda while typing, that squashes me. Put it to the right already. No, your other right! NO!!! You do not need to plug your phone...Ummph! Cut that out!!! Very well then, it is clear you are unworthy of being graced with my firm, yet soft, warm body cuddled in your arms and I shall go elsewhere. Ingrate! Try to show a Bean a little kindness and see where it gets you.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Sophie! Stop that paper rustling! Is there nowhere a mancat can go for peace and quiet? Fuzzbutt, get out! I was here first!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Lady, he's hogging the papers again! Lady! When am I going to get a turn? And, lady? When are you going to open up the box inside the box? What did you buy if for anyway? Us!!! You said so! Now open it please? Tomorrow? That's what you said yesterday. Harrrumph! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
*sigh* Lisa here. Clearly the residents don't think their bean can do much right. Yes, that's Buddy's favorite position. As soon as I'm on the computer, he's up and settling in for a nap, with me typing around him (can you say arms numb from the elbow down?), and he HATES his nap time being interrupted by any motions other than typing. (if my soda is to the right, he's OK with me taking a quick swig and depriving his butt of warmth.) If I don't cease and desist with other movements, he'll go off in a huff, vocally letting me know he is NOT pleased! :-D</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Oh, and that dot on his nose is courtesy of Peggy Sue when he attempted to take over the papers yesterday. He did not succeed. Poor Buddy, he just can't win lately.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sophie here. A big box arrived. The lady said it was for us and opened it, and then just walked away. Well, there's another box in it and lots and lots of paper. My friend Bitty got in to check it out (and then decided to nap), but I really wish she hadn't.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw7McXjiFt32J30oei5k92v6krbx1mci6gEDGrvsbCv4U0Lb10byvLcK0bvclqhvJd8gGA-DOkyRQbtrzaY4hJj3X1dC9AlRIfBMHiU2x9BuPbIIeyBPiw_1AgdPAyxZXFUeVjdzuoVx8/s1600/IMG_2404.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhw7McXjiFt32J30oei5k92v6krbx1mci6gEDGrvsbCv4U0Lb10byvLcK0bvclqhvJd8gGA-DOkyRQbtrzaY4hJj3X1dC9AlRIfBMHiU2x9BuPbIIeyBPiw_1AgdPAyxZXFUeVjdzuoVx8/s400/IMG_2404.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Why? Because the lady then said, "I'll wait to open the other box and you'll have two presents." <span style="text-align: center;">Outrageous! I want to know what's in the not-so-big box! I think we should be entitled to play with everything all at once!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
And just who is the "you" in "you'll," anyway? Do you know how long it took for me to get my turn in there???? Peggy Sue had to get in, and so did Buddy, and so did Lucy. I think the only one who hasn't muscled me out of the way is Annie.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<b>Regarding yesterday's post</b> about Buddy's new habit of sitting in the bathroom litter pan, co-worker Kelly wondered if the pan was near a heat source. I think she may have hit it! That wasn't the pan's original position, I moved it out from under the sink (after I bonked my head scooping) and never even thought about it being directly in front of a heat vent. I'll be moving it tonight and see if that solves the mystery. Sure would rather that be the reason than the big guy feeling insecure in his own home!</div>HubbleSpacePawshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00720087964026883620noreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3050374070927431954.post-54703327312861242162012-03-31T02:58:00.000-04:002012-04-01T03:22:05.010-04:00What the...???<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPEj0OH9sgvIP1pumtqdFhdbkqwROdEQ2_5mSDk0HdvBwMpZwzDPBPnhrS-lnq4THCV8lIl25X_vgqcCGHZdH7ju3V7zrpIM6yvQHU17Rc2FZAont8F0_QxuWs6joP4mM02wS0cuEdCdo/s1600/IMG_2264.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhPEj0OH9sgvIP1pumtqdFhdbkqwROdEQ2_5mSDk0HdvBwMpZwzDPBPnhrS-lnq4THCV8lIl25X_vgqcCGHZdH7ju3V7zrpIM6yvQHU17Rc2FZAont8F0_QxuWs6joP4mM02wS0cuEdCdo/s400/IMG_2264.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
Seriously, dude? Would you care to explain to me exactly why sitting in used litter holds any appeal whatsoever? I buy kitteh beds and scatter them throughout the house for your reclining pleasure. We have perfectly good upholstered furniture upon which you may lay and, if I'm not in the room, scratch. A perfectly good bed, even. TWO perfectly good beds. And one of them is king size.<br />
<br />
*sigh* New behavior for Buddy. Is this pecking order stuff? Is he feeling insecure for some reason? (Come to think of it, this may have started after his first encounter with Jerry, the only other male at the Casa.) He seems to do it when he joins me in the bathroom for my morning ministrations or when I go in to use the facilities in the evening - but then he stays there. *sigh* I've never come home, for example, and found him lounging. And he only does it in the bathroom pan (there are 7 pans in the Casa).<br />
<br />
*big sigh*<br />
<br />
PS - Why did Rubbermaid stop making their wonderful pans? They were perfect for smaller spaces, dang it! It is high sided. It has handles for easy gripping. Its entrance is the perfect step-in height. It has a convenient pour spout at the entrance that also serves as insurance if kitteh decides to go facing the back of the pan. The points at which the bottom and sides meet are gently rounded so no gook gets stuck in sharp corners. It even came in more attractive colors than grey. Perfect. So, of course, they've been discontinued. Dang it!HubbleSpacePawshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00720087964026883620noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3050374070927431954.post-36357721615439460082012-03-30T00:21:00.000-04:002012-03-30T09:19:42.363-04:00Anniebutt Island and a Crystal Moment<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
It's been a very busy day but I didn't want to miss a post so soon after returning to the blog. (I'm trying really hard to get around to all of our blog friends so, what time I had, I spent doing that!)<br />
<br />
So I figured I could put up one of the pics I have, even if it wasn't part of a foster story. You so rarely see her on this blog, I thought this one of Annie, the senior member of the Casa's General Population, would do nicely. <br />
<br />
Annie is 12 now, and has always been a bit of a "scaredy cat." But when the new kitchen went in, <u>she</u> claimed the island - I was stunned - she so rarely asserts herself. I made a few efforts to keep the residents off of the island (they pretty much stay off of the food prep surfaces, which are next to the fridge and sink) but gave up when I realized I wouldn't win. You see the heat vent comes up right under where Annie is laying and the entire length of the island becomes toasty warm in the winter. One day I came home to find five of them (yes, she shares occasionally) lined up, basking in the warmth. <br />
<br />
Annie has kidney disease and we work very hard to keep the weight on her and keep her hydrated. After losing Tisha and Annie and Grey, I can't bear the thought of something happening to my little Greyzini. Of all the critters, Annie has the most nicknames - Anniebutt, Greyzini, Greyzolette, and Bleached Baby, because someone thought her cream and camel markings made her look like bleach had been spilled on a silver grey cat. They even sang to her - "Bleached Baby, Bleached Baby, give me your paw..." I do too, now and again!<br />

Oh, how much I have missed during that hiatus!! I just discovered that <a href="http://dogsandcats.typepad.com/blog/">Chrystal at Daily Dose of Dogs (aka cats in your coffee)</a> is having a March blogoversary adoption event. If you haven't been there yet, go check out her beautiful Cashmere and offer a word of support!<br />

Is she a floofalicious lovely, or what? Having been feral, she needs furever family who is willing to give her lots of time to come to love them. (Hey, would you ever have thought our Lucy would come around? And look at her now!) Cashmere just needs a quiet household to call her own, and beans with the patience to let her take her time learning to love.<br />

Red and Scuse are two young men who have had a rough time of it and need to be rehomed, together. The duo were abandoned by their owners, attacked by dogs (resulting in Red loosing an eye) but landed in a wonderful foster home. <a href="http://networkedblogs.com/vIbMo?a=share">You can read about them here.</a> They're healthy, playful and very attached to each other. Their foster mom is glad to deliver them to a good home within a day's drive of Gaithersburg and would even make arrangements for more distance, if the right home comes along.</div>

<span style="font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 115%;">I shouldn't be surprised,

<span style="font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 115%;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: 13.5pt; line-height: 115%;">Jerry's only been here a bit over
a month. Unfortunately I rushed things with him and opened the door to
the basement last week, hoping he'd venture up after I went to bed. Big mistake. Big, big mistake. He seriously did not like
having the other cats come down. No fights or even much growling but, where he'd been so fastidious before, he has clearly peed outside the pan (probably hiding from
them). I still haven't figured out where and it stinks down there. Jerry being a late-neutered tom probably doesn't help the stink factor. So the door is closed again and we'll give him more time to adjust. This week is so packed, he's going to have to live with it a while. Next weekend we scrub the floor from corner to corner with
<a href="http://www.getseriousproducts.net/index.html">Get Serious</a>. He's not going to like that either! LOL!</span><o:p></o:p><br />
<span style="font-size: 19px; line-height: 21px;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-size: 19px; line-height: 21px;">The shots above aren't the greatest because he largely sticks to small, dark places when I show up, and doesn't want me to get near. But I can see how much better his eyes are than when he first came here. Then he was squinting constantly (see below). Now he looks at me with eyes wide open (top pic)!</span><br />

Remember us? Want to guess where we are? Yep!! Our new furever home!!!!<br />
<br />
We like being here with Sarah. It's just her and us. Nice and quiet, no kittehs coming and going, and she gives us all of her attention, not just part of it! And we still get to see the Space Paws lady 'cause we live three blocks away! <br />
<br />
Better yet, there are kitteh lovers downstairs, too. A whole family of them. And sometimes Sarah will open her door and the folks downstairs will open their door and we have the run of the whole place. There are more folks to pet us than there are us. Well, you know what we mean. Pretty cool. <br />
<br />
Sarah and the Space Paws lady are friends (the downstairs folks, too... they all go to the same church). Well, Sarah came to visit and fell in love with us. Naturally. And, after a few visits, she asked if we could come visit her. We all settled in so well, Sarah asked us if we'd stay and we said sure!<br />
<br />
The Space Paws lady asks us if we miss her when she comes to visit. Maybe a little but it is so nice being with Sarah it's hard to imagine ourselves anywhere else. We love our new mom! She says she'll send pictures sometimes so you won't miss us, too.<br />
<br />
See you later!<br />
Trudy and Lawrence<br />
<br />
Lisa here. Yes folks, I'm ever so happy for my sweet duo and for Sarah. I'll admit, I cried buckets the day Sarah told me it would be forever. I still don't get it. You'd think it would get easier to let fosters go the longer I do this, but it doesn't, especially with the adults. This time, happy as I am for them, I thought my heart would break.<br />
<br />
You might remember, Trudy and Lawrence had been with me as kittens and found a very nice dad who, unfortunately, was forced to return them due to economic difficulties. I kept them for almost a year, hoping things would turn around for him but, sadly, they didn't. When Sarah expressed an interest, I had a selfish moment. I didn't want to give them up. (Even now, weeks later, I'm in puddles as I type.) But sense prevailed. I couldn't find a better home for them than Sarah's and letting go is part of my job. I remind myself there wouldn't be room for other kittehs needing a home if I kept everyone. I love you, my babies. Be good and make your new mom as happy as you've made me, OK?<br />

Yeah, it really is. Lucy's progress has been just amazing since the first of the year. It took our girl about 9 months to even show her face regularly upstairs but once she decided the General Population and I were OK, she's made huge strides.

And, if you think that's pretty cool, check these out:

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Yes, that is precious Lucy, <i>in my lap</i>!!! I hardly dared to breathe, but she's consenting to lap time fairly regularly now. The day she jumps up, I'll know she's turned a huge corner. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And sleeping with Sophie!!! Sophie is everyone's friend, so it's exciting, but not surprising.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And if I could have gotten to the cell on my nightstand last night, you'd have a shot of her sleeping between my legs!!! Yep, that was Lucy's idea - I <i>really</i> didn't breathe then!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
She's a love hound now. Big time! Like I said - amazing! Oh, the feral is still in her. She still startles easily. And shies away when I change position (if I'm standing when she comes into a room, fine, but if I'm seated and then stand, for instance, she'll skitter away a few feet and regard me warily for a few seconds). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So it looks like she's on the right track and the train... errrr, Lucy... shows no signs of slowing down in her transition to house cat status. If she keeps this up for another six months or so, we'll start the search for her furever home. She gets along great with the GP ever since she started spending time with us, which is a blessing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There's good news, too, on the Buddy front and for Trudy & Lawrence, but we'll save those for other posts. Jerry is fully healed now but is keeping to the basement and still hides when I come down. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="http://wendyslolspot.blogspot.com/2012/02/toot-toot-tootsie-hello.html">Sweet Wendy</a> honored Moblin with one of her classic "toot" LOLs last month (and I hang my head in shame that it took me almost a month to get another post up to thank her!):. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Looking forward to sending this to her furever mom. Yes, Moblin is no longer on foster-to-adopt. She's just plain adopted!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, more soon! I miss you all!!!</div>HubbleSpacePawshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00720087964026883620noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3050374070927431954.post-6651595344931298222012-02-15T01:29:00.000-05:002012-02-15T01:29:45.388-05:00May we introduce you to Jerry?<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well, the Crazy Cat Ladies of Ednor Gardens are at it again! Handsome Jerry got himself a couple of guardian angels. First, in November, Linda coaxed this handsome tom into a Havaheart and got him tested, neutered, and all of his shots. The vet pronounced him healthy but noted he had inverted eyelids (the same condition that Love & Hisses little ones had), which were causing him considerable pain. Sadly, they weren't able to address his eye condition back then. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Never-say-die Margaret (that's her in the second pic) raised the bucks to get his eyes fixed, lured him into a Haveaheart once again, and whisked him off to the vet. He spent 10 days at Academy Vet, here in B'more, got his operation (hugs to Doc Lewis!), and is now ready for recovery and socialization. Margaret asked if Space Paws could take care of him while he was recovering. How could we say no?! He joined us today.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A huge thank-you to Margaret and Linda and all of their connections through the CCLoEG for helping this guy out! Jerry has got our basement all to himself (Mama Lucy is upstairs with the Space Paws gang now!). Poor guy was so stressed that, like Lucy did in the beginning, he tucked himself up safely under the bed. I'm hoping it won't be for too long.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Since it's been so long since we've posted regularly, I need to catch you up on Mama Lucy... but that's a post for another day!</div>HubbleSpacePawshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00720087964026883620noreply@blogger.com17
