I Guess We're Not An Experiment Anymore :-)

The inspiration of renovations at Casa Space Paws, plus being on vacation, equaled playing with the blog today! Former Commander saw the changes and commented, "Does the snazzy new layout mean we're not an experiment anymore?" (Our "About Us" said, "This is an experiment!," for those who don't remember.)

Well, you know, I guess it does! We've been on the intertubes for 10 months now and, in that time, have fostered and placed 12 critters (10 in pairs!) and helped promote 3 more who were adopted through contacts outside the blog. Sadly we lost one of our fosters. And currently, we are fostering 4.

I guess that's really not too bad for folks who work on the "outside" and are doing this on their off hours. And this isn't about numbers anyway... it's about loving the furry charges who pass through our lives, and about trying to make our corner of the universe just a little bit better. The caring folks at the 'tute have been fostering strays, and finding them homes, for many years... waaaay before this blog started! The blog was just intended to help their efforts.

I think I speak for everyone at Space Paws when I say it's been a real honor to meet our readers and other foster parents! You've provided such encouragement and inspiration. And, when Gus needed surgery, you were right there with more tangible help as well! Thank you, thank you, one and all!

We'd like the blog to be as effective as possible. Please let us know what you like and don't like about the "new" blog.
  • Our sidebar had gotten so long that I've tried "pages" for the adoption info - after all that's what this is all about. Are the tabs visible enough? Easy for potential adopters to follow?
  • This layout was chosen for the "green box" at the top of the sidebar to highlight needs we run across on the intertubes. Does that work?
  • The archive has been shrunk to a single drop down box to save room. Anyone miss the hierarchy?
  • Do you have any other suggestions for us???
And don't worry, you can't hurt my feelings... this is about effectiveness, not ego! Speak your mind!

Hugs to you from all of us here at Space Paws!
Lisa

PS- Thanks to everyone who posted the "Help!" Public Service Announcement!!

PPS - Small update on the chaos that is the Casa these days... Grey finally ventured down to explore "box central" today! And yeah, he's still trying to sidle up to Bitty... but she has more places to which to escape now, what with all the boxes and piled up furniture!

  1. The blog looks good to me, but then I just found you yesterday! :-)

You can always switch to a 3-column layout if you want more sidebar room.

  3. I LOVE the new colors ~ of course ~ I'm partial to greens! Very calming and soothing. I like your different pages at the top. I am wondering if you can make them 'pop' out just a little bit more. Bigger? Different color?

As Kea's suggestion above, you can indeed move to a 3-column layout though I find with that (my opinion only) your content (the middle) gets a bit lost because there becomes too much to look at all at once.

But truly, you do such a beautiful thing here, it's all about the kitties. The color, style, design, it's all just icing on the cake!

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  6. It looks good. But really, I haven't updated my website since 1999, so I'm not one to talk :-) I read your blog via RSS, so I'm not too picky.

  9. I like the layout better - but I miss the SpacePaws logo at the top. Maybe you could include it in the banner at the top?
