I thought I should capture a few clips of my darlings, too. :-)
This is the grand old lady of our home, Winifred. Win is 15 and came to me as a kitten... the way you shouldn't get a cat. A friend gave her to me... presenting Winnie as a gift, in front of her kids. I wasn't ready for a new cat (my 17 year old, Little One, had passed away that week), but how do you say no faced with a precious ball of fluff and three excited kids facing you?
My little sweetie (she's just 7 pounds) has had a chronic sinus irritation, which we've battled, with multiple medications, to no avail. Fortunately, her lungs remain clear and, except for her occasional wheeze, she's quite healthy. She is a gentle grandma, who lives and lets live but backs down from none. She's an amazing peace keeping force of one and provides a stabilizing influence on behavior here.
My neighbor of 12 years has always said that Win is the perfect cat. I'm not sure perfect exists (or maybe each kitteh is perfect in his or her own way) but Winnie is truly wonderful!
It says the video isn't available to me. : (
ReplyDeleteJust popped over to YouTube... it tells me the video is not yet processed. Hmmmm.... I'll check in the am and, if it's still not available, I'll pull the post and try again tomorrow nite.
ReplyDeleteWell, I just finished watching, so they must have got it through the mill. And what a sweetie Winnie is, even if her motor sputters a little. :-) She's a lovely lady--I admit I've had a bit of a soft spot for her ever since the post where you talked about her calming Peggy Sue down on the way to the vet's when Gray had everyone stirred up.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm so glad that we got to see a video of sweet little Winnie...such a delightful lady...maybe I'm partial to the "old lady" cats but she sounds like she is just perfectly perfect :)
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful and sweet your little Winnie! 7 pounds! Oh my ~ but how tiny! Of course ~ my proportion sizes of cats are a little 'off' with my big boy! ha ha! Lovely lovely lady cat.
ReplyDeleteHello my friend! Sorry for the delay in commenting, but I've been reading!! So happy to see my blankie is still holding up well, and serving its assigned purpose as a snuggler and keep-warmer of kittehs large and small.
ReplyDeleteLet's hear it for Winnie, the elder stateswoman of the Space Paws family! She is fabulous, and your story about her sinuses gives me hope that chronic conditions CAN be managed. (Sorry, I'm just feeling a bit low about Freddie's continued uncontrolled diabetes...*sniffle*)
Best wishes to you and the Space Paws for a happy holiday!
PS About Freddie's diabetes, I should've clarified that we are still TRYING to control it *grin* with a new kind of insulin. But the weekly vet visits (sometimes all day, sometimes just an hour) are taking their toll on the big guy, and on me. I know he doesn't understand why he feels bad, and I can't explain that the weekly vet visits are part of our attempts to help him feel better.
ReplyDeleteAnyway - sorry! Moving on :-)
What a sweet vdieo of a sweet girl! She's teensie, but I know how that is. Skeeter's only 5.5 pounds. She's ALWAYS been a little mini!
ReplyDeleteShe is such a pretty girl and she sure loves the tummy rubs!!! Y'all have the best Christmas ever!
ReplyDeleteI just melted all over the floor and now have to find a way to collect myself.
ReplyDeleteWin is a such a sweet kitty. And the bond between you two is so evident!
What a sweetie! Win's fur looks so nice and glossy and her eyes so bright. Sigh... lovely vid and you can totally see the love.
ReplyDeleteShe is so lovely. There is something about those senior lady cats that is very special indeed!
ReplyDeleteMum says that Win is SO SWEET! She is just the size of my sister Pandora :) And I am very partial to black cats myself ;)
ReplyDeleteI too have a fondness for the senior kitties. This distinguished lady has won me over. What a lovely thing she is.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this about Winnie. Very sweet and heartwarming.
ReplyDeletehello sweet winnie!! i just got my "grand old lady" back after years with my parents and then a friend. so glad too, or after watching that i'd be terribly sad to not have one of my own! you'll meet her soon, i'm sure. she's a little, uh, "special."
