Thankful Thursday & Some Needs Today

Meg passed this along, Robyn's got it up, and we're from MD so... as Meg says, if two people tell two people who tell two people...

Red and Scuse are two young men who have had a rough time of it and need to be rehomed, together. The duo were abandoned by their owners, attacked by dogs (resulting in Red loosing an eye) but landed in a wonderful foster home. You can read about them here. They're healthy, playful and very attached to each other. Their foster mom is glad to deliver them to a good home within a day's drive of Gaithersburg and would even make arrangements for more distance, if the right home comes along.

So, you know the drill kind folks!  Repost, tweet, FB and all that jazz and help these handsome boys find the home of their dreams!!

As you know, I've been away from the intertubes for a while.  When I paid my first visit to SASS, I saw their Mom is not doing well at all.  I'm sure many of you know this and have been supporting her all along.  I am feeling very guilty for not having been there.  So everyone at the Casa would just like Judi to know we're keeping her in our purrayers.

And, from the Casa to everyone who has welcomed us back, it's Thankful Thursday for you!  We're feeling like the sun is creeping back in!

Thankful Thursday - Celebrating life!

It's been a busy couple of days so we weren't on yesterday (Wednesday Lenten study, so you may not see us much on Wednesdays for the next few weeks) and we were running behind today. But, before I hit the hay I tried to squeeze in just a little visiting, not really even hoping to get to a St. Paddy's day post. I'm so glad I did.

Bittersweet tears and joyful smiles today...

Our friend Kittykye posted today and it is a celebration of the circle of life. Sweet, courageous Wesley has gone to the Bridge, where we know he's running free... free of his CH, and just waiting for those who loved him so well to join him.
It was an honor to have known you, Wesley. We will keep purrayin' for your brother, L, and your wonderful furever mom, Ann.

And the circle of life brought joy, too! Please meet Andrew, Kittykye's brand new son~
Welcome, handsome! It's a great set of parents you've lucked into, young man!! We can't wait to see you grow!

So, see you tomorrow... we'll have a lot of visiting to do!! :-D

Thankful Thursday and Some Bits'n'Pieces

First month at TPCHS for no euthanasia of adoptable cats
It just keeps getting better. I know many of our readers frequent IBKC and Laurie wrote about the good news over at the Tacoma/Pierce County Humane Society the other day. I just heard from Sue at Pitter Pats that the great news made the local TV broadcast too!

I'm thrilled with their news, but just as thankful to be part of the adoption blog community that helped to make it happen... that's you, gentle readers!!! I'm so thankful that you all helped make the Butterbean Quarantine for kittehs a reality and that the Quarantine helped make this step forward toward the goal of being a no-kill shelter possible for the Humane Society.

A few words from Rancho J2
Please keep young Tango in your purrayers tomorrow as he goes to the vet to become a responsible mancat. Joy reports: "Tango is indeed still in a snit (after his last trip to the vet)... growls at me - swipes at me - but - I don't give up on him - I tell him in a soft voice that I love him even if he hates me... eventually - I at least get to pet his ears for a few seconds without getting torn apart. ;-)

Whiskey (our pregnant young lady) likes her belly rubbed. She makes like she is going to smack me - but as soon as I reach her belly - she lays down and stretches out."

J2 is making slow but steady progress with these two young ferals and we're sending out lots of positive energy as Tango goes for his snip and Whiskey nears her time to deliver.

We're still waiting for Spanky pictures
But in the meantime, Ann let us know a little more about the kittehs for whom she's looking for homes: "Spanky is very friendly; lets me pick him up and pet him. He's a bit greedy with the food, though, understandably. Noses away our little porch feral, Ms. Jones, a silky black cat with very dainty ways and a very shy and circumspect demeanor."

While we're greedy for pics, we understand that getting Spanky ready for adoption (and there is lots to do before he'll be ready) is top priority. After all, Ann did a bang up job of getting her last rescue Squinky ready and then, when he was, finding a wonderful furever home in record time!

Thankful Thursday

side2

Last week Sly wrote to Space Paws and said he'd like to peek in on us from time to time. Actually, he said:

Hellow,
Maw name is Sly. I founds yur blogs the other day and wanted to send some mails saying Hi. I am new to the bloggins world and luv meetings new cats. Mum said she wud add yous to our blogroll so I cans keeps a very close eyes on yur blog. I hav a Cat blog at:
http://petcareeducation.com/cat/ I mainly blogs abouts Cat Care and hows to tak goods cares of us. Mum proofreads my works. She says it luks more professionals. She doesnt know what shes talkin abouts.

Anyways.... I luk forward to reading and commenting on yur blog post....
CyA,
Sly the Cat Care Guru

Being kind of curious, I went on over to his site and found that Sly has put together lots of information for pet owners.

I wrote to Sly to find out more about him and his beans and what they were up to. He wrote right back (his mom edited his reply a bit):

Just ordinary Pet Lovers. We have two dogs and one cat. The site is designed to help newer pet owners with questions that they may have. We don't make any money, we just love helping others. We are not professionals, nor are we vets, simply people who care about animals. The one thing that keeps us motivated are the awesome emails from people we have helped.

I know this isn't much, but we are pretty simple.

Well, Space Paws would beg to differ. Folks who work to help make their little corner of the universe a little bit better are special. We all aren't necessarily called to do it in the same way. So here's a Space Paws thank you to Sly and his beans! Thank you for reaching out to new pet owners and pulling together a lot of resources for them in one place!

Thankful Thursday

Once again, I'd like to mention a couple of blogs for which I'm thankful (and there are quite a number!)... Since I was going to link to these folks today anyway, let's say hi to them in a bigger way! The writers of these blogs really try to reach out and spread the word about those in need.

First, the blog from whom I shamelessly stole the "Thankful Thursday" idea...
Brian let folks know he was thankful for Space Paws a while back. And I've been itching to say, "Right back at ya!!" I adore King Brian's tag line, "Adopt cats, we deserve it!!!!" Yesterday, Brian brought Will to our attention... a cat who was hit by a car (and will be fine) but who needs a new home ASAP. Spreading the word through blog pals, hopefully someone will know someone who knows someone in upstate State South Carolina who is looking for a special furend. So go on over and see if you can be the next link in the chain that finds Will his furever home! Thanks for all the passing on you do, Brian!

And next, Amy, of the House of Cats:

Amy's idea of a good birthday present for herself is to run a commentathon and donate a quarter a comment to a worthy cause! And she isn't just doing it for her birthday, which was yesterday! She's keeping the commenathon open for over a week, so go on over and meet her! Amy's a shameless cheerleader for folks who show their love for our furends and posts some hilarious pics of her babes, to boot!

Thank you both for all your encouragement... not just of Space Paws, but of so many others!! You've really shown us how the power of the intertubes can be leveraged for good!

Thankful Thursday

Recognize that title?? I shamelessly stole it from Brian's blog (thanks, Brian!!). And I'm going to try to remember to do this at least a couple of times a month. As you may have seen, I've listed some foster and adoption blogs in the sidebar... but I sure haven't done much to thank them for encouraging Space Paws or for the fine work they do.

In the past week or so I've been triple blessed!!! I've visited some new friends and discovered an old friend was doing a new thing!! So this week is a thank you to folks who have recently begun a foster/adoption blog!

People from all over are trying to make their little corner of the universe a bit better! Let me introduce you to them and tell you that today I am thankful for The Crazy Cat Lady, kittykye, Leslie and Dieter over at Kittitas and Angie at wee furries!

Treat yourself and meet them!!

There are more folks than we realize who really are trying to make a difference. I'm very proud to call these folks friends of Space Paws!
