Hope you all had a great weekend!

Hope your weekend was lovely.  We made sure we got plenty of R&R - shaking the bleeehs from Friday and celebrating Easter.

Here's Bitty, helping me make the visiting rounds (not a lot of commenting though).. are those boys of Sue's a fine way to celebrate Easter or what?

And a short video of Jer-Bear showing those eyes wide open, until the light from the camera got to him.  I expect he'll be standoffish for months yet so you'll probably be seeing him under the bed (or steps or behind the bookcase) for some time to come.  Too bad, he's starting to look quite regal when he relaxes and that doesn't really show when he's crouching!!  Sophie and I get to see it when we go down for leisurely visits, though!

Jerry's still shy

Yep, he's still hiding under the bed.

And hiding beside the bed.

And hiding some more behind the bookcase (I think we found a lost kitten toy back there!).

(Franca, his favorite place to hide is the kitteh nest you gave us, which is in the cupboard under the stairs.  Unfortunately the entrance faces away from where I can stand, so no pics, yet!)

Forgive the crummy corners of the basement - of course he hides in the least photogenic places!

I shouldn't be surprised, it took a couple of months for Lucy to come out of hiding and she had a reason - the two legs had started playing with her babies and she needed to keep an eye on the proceedings.

Jerry's only been here a bit over a month.  Unfortunately I rushed things with him and opened the door to the basement last week, hoping he'd venture up after I went to bed.  Big mistake.  Big, big mistake.  He seriously did not like having the other cats come down.  No fights or even much growling but, where he'd been so fastidious before, he has clearly peed outside the pan (probably hiding from them).  I still haven't figured out where and it stinks down there.  Jerry being a late-neutered tom probably doesn't help the stink factor.  So the door is closed again and we'll give him more time to adjust.  This week is so packed, he's going to have to live with it a while.  Next weekend we scrub the floor from corner to corner with Get Serious.  He's not going to like that either!  LOL!

The shots above aren't the greatest because he largely sticks to small, dark places when I show up, and doesn't want me to get near.  But I can see how much better his eyes are than when he first came here.  Then he was squinting constantly (see below).  Now he looks at me with eyes wide open (top pic)!

Jerry in the first week (caught him snoozing in one of the cat beds) when I was tempted to rename him Squinto:

I just love the crescent moons on his cheeks.  Looks like the boy got himself some tats!

May we introduce you to Jerry?

Well, the Crazy Cat Ladies of Ednor Gardens are at it again!  Handsome Jerry got himself a couple of guardian angels. First, in November, Linda coaxed this handsome tom into a Havaheart and got him tested, neutered, and all of his shots.  The vet pronounced him healthy but noted he had inverted eyelids (the same condition that Love & Hisses little ones had), which were causing him considerable pain.  Sadly, they weren't able to address his eye condition back then.

Never-say-die Margaret (that's her in the second pic) raised the bucks to get his eyes fixed, lured him into a Haveaheart once again, and whisked him off to the vet.  He spent 10 days at Academy Vet, here in B'more, got his operation (hugs to Doc Lewis!), and is now ready for recovery and socialization.  Margaret asked if Space Paws could take care of him while he was recovering.  How could we say no?!  He joined us today.

A huge thank-you to Margaret and Linda and all of their connections through the CCLoEG for helping this guy out!  Jerry has got our basement all to himself (Mama Lucy is upstairs with the Space Paws gang now!).  Poor guy was so stressed that, like Lucy did in the beginning, he tucked himself up safely under the bed.  I'm hoping it won't be for too long.

Since it's been so long since we've posted regularly, I need to catch you up on Mama Lucy... but that's a post for another day!
